Daniel Amir
|
|
Daniel L. Amir, a Managing Director and senior research analyst, joined Lazard Capital Markets in August 2007. Daniel covers semiconductor device companies with a focus on memory, consumer, and communications. Prior to joining LCM, he was at WR Hambrecht + Co as a senior research analyst heading the firm's semiconductor research practice. Daniel has been recognized by Zacks research as “Best on the street” in 2006. Before WR Hambrecht, Daniel worked in semiconductor research and corporate finance as an associate at Bear Stearns, Hotovec Pomeranz, and JPMorgan H&Q.

Jim Ballan joined Lazard Capital Markets in September 2009 as a Director covering Specialty Finance. Previously, he was a senior analyst for eight years at Bear Stearns and J.P. Morgan, covering Private Debt & Equity stocks, which included Business Development Companies (BDCs), Alternative Asset Managers and other permanent capital investment vehicles. He has extensive credit and equity valuation experience, including senior roles in equity and high yield research and as both an investment banker and commercial banker. In addition, he has significant experience across many industry sectors, including financials, telecom, media, conglomerates, and industrials.
Prior to joining Bear Stearns, Jim was a high yield research analyst at CIBC World Markets, covering Wireless Telecom and Wireless Towers. Prior to moving to research, Jim was a banker, and he has eight years of banking experience at Lehman Brothers, Citibank, Wertheim Schroder and United Jersey Bank.
Jim received his MBA in Finance from Columbia Business School and BA in Economics from Northwestern University.

Barton started in equity research after a 10-year career as a journalist. He was part of the original journalist team that launched MSNBC.com in 1996. He was also West Coast Bureau Chief for the American Banker newspaper.

Urs Dur

|
Urs Dür, a Senior Vice President and shipping & logistics analyst, joined Lazard Capital Markets in May 2006. Before joining LCM, Urs was a relationship manager for DVB Bank AG in New York, where he specialized in commercial lending to marine shipping companies. Prior to DVB, he was the Editor and Publisher of Marine Money International, which publishes Marine Money a monthly marine shipping finance magazine, and Freshly Minted, a weekly online publication which supplements the monthly publication.
Urs’ extensive background in shipping also includes experience at Transamerica Leasing, where he was a Manager of Logistics and ultimately Senior Manager of Finance in the company’s Trader Division; being a spot tanker broker in the large tanker segment for Seabrokers, Inc.; and an Associate Commercial Manager for Salisbury House, Inc., where he managed Marine Atlantic and Marine Pacific, two ultra-large crude carriers.
In May 2009 Urs was named #1 Stock Picker, Marine for the Financial Times/Starmine Best Brokerage Analyst awards. In May 2008 Urs was named 4th Best on the Street by the Wall Street Journal in Industrial Transportation out of 33 considered analysts in the sector.

Joel P. Fishbein, Jr., a Managing Director and senior analyst covering application and infrastructure software, joined Lazard Capital Markets in September 2006. His investment thesis and methodology is fundamentally driven and research-intensive, including consistent contact with management, competition, and suppliers, and is based on, among other things, market position, valuation, financial strength, management experience, growth rate, and historical record. Joel has been recognized by the Wall Street Journal as “Best on the Street”, StarMine as a five-star-rated analyst, and Thomson FirstCall as a top-rated software analyst.
Prior to joining Lazard Capital Markets, worked on the sell-side at Janney Montgomery Scott and on the buy-side at Gardner Lewis Asset Management and at the State of New Jersey Department of the Treasury pension fund. During his tenure at Gardner Lewis, he primarily focused on telecommunications services and equipment, cable, networking, data storage, enterprise equipment, and Internet security and infrastructure.

Thomas Gallucci joined Lazard Capital Markets in May 2009 as the senior research analyst covering Healthcare Services. Prior to joining LCM, he worked at Merrill Lynch for 10 years primarily focused on the Healthcare Distribution/Pharmacy Benefit Management subsectors, the Healthcare Facilities space and the Retail Drug business.
In 2008, Tom had the unique honor of being simultaneously named to the Institutional Investor All-America team in two separate categories - Healthcare Distribution/Technology and Healthcare Facilities. Similarly, Tom was named to the Institutional Investor All-America team every year from 2004-2008 in the Healthcare Distribution/Technology category, and in 2003 was designated by Institutional Investor as one of the top “Up and Coming” analysts on the Street. Bill Tanner joined Lazard Capital Markets in May 2009 as a senior biopharma analyst focusing on the Biotechnology and Specialty Pharmaceuticals sectors. Prior to joining LCM, he worked at Leerink Swann LLC, a healthcare investment bank, for almost 7 years where he was a Managing Director and Head of the Biotechnology Equity Research team. Leerink Swann consistently ranked highly by Institutional Investor as Best of the Boutiques in Biotechnology and the team ranked #6 in the 2008 Greenwich Associates survey of Healthcare.
Prior to Leerink Swann, he was a Managing Director and biotechnology analyst at SG Cowen and before that, a biotechnology analyst at the former Vector Securities International. For the last 10 years, he has worked at investment banks focused predominantly or exclusively on healthcare.
