Daniel Amir

Daniel L. Amir is a Managing Director and senior research analyst covering semiconductor device and electronic component companies with a focus on memory, consumer, LED, and communications. Prior to joining Lazard Capital Markets in August 2007, he was a senior at WR Hambrecht + Co, where he headed the firm's semiconductor research practice. Before WR Hambrecht, Daniel worked in semiconductor research and corporate finance as an associate at Bear Stearns, Hotovec Pomeranz, and JPMorgan H&Q. He began his career as a commander in the Israeli Air Force and also worked in the Israel Department of Treasury. 

Daniel was recognized by Zachs research as "Best on the Street" in 2006 as the top technology analyst stock-picker in the US for that year and #2 stock-picker overall. He is mentioned frequently as a five-star StarMine analyst on companies under his coverage. In addition, Daniel is quoted on Bloomberg, Reuters, Barron's, the Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones, AP and other media outlets. 

Daniel has an MBA in finance from the Anderson School of Business at UCLA and an MA in International Relations and BA in Economics and International Relations from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

William Bird

Bill Bird is a Managing Director and senior analyst covering ad-driven media and professional information. He has more than 20 years of investment experience and has worked on both the buy side and sell side. Bill was named to the Institutional Investor All-America Research Team for 11 years and has ranked as high as #2 in two separate categories. Other distinctions include ranking in The Wall Street Journal's "Best on the Street" survey for 2000, 2001, and 2006.

Bill began his career in media stock research in 1995 at Merrill Lynch and worked for ten years at Smith Barney/Citigroup (1997-2007). He was a buy side generalist at Steinberg Asset Management (2007-2009) before returning to the sell side at BofA Merrill Lynch (2009-2010). Before his career in equity research, Bill was a fixed income product manager at Merrill Lynch and a senior credit analyst at Manufacturer’s Hanover Trust.

Bill received a BA in American History from Harvard and an MBA from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business.

Barton Crockett

Barton Crockett is a Director and senior analyst covering entertainment. He joined Lazard Capital Markets in February 2009 after working for 10 years at J.P. Morgan and predecessor companies where he covered small/mid cap media, publishing, broadcasting, advertising/marketing services and Internet companies. Twice he has placed first in the Wall Street Journal's "Best on the Street" tally of analyst stock picks (in 2011 for media and in 2007 for advertising and publishing). He has appeared frequently on CNBC and Bloomberg and has been quoted in publications including Barron's, Fortune, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.

Barton started in equity research after a 10-year career as a journalist. He was part of the journalist team that launched MSNC.com in 1996. He was also West Coast Bureau Chief for the American Banker newspaper.

Jennifer Davis

Jennifer Davis is a research analyst covering specialty retail, apparel and accessories. Jennifer joined Lazard Capital Markets in June 2007. Previously, Jennifer was a research associate covering specialty retail stocks at Roth Capital Partners and Sanders Morris Harris. Before joining the sell-side, Jennifer spent more than five years in the accounting and finance departments of several multinational companies.

Jennifer received her BBA from Emory University and her MBA from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Matthew DiFrisco

Matt DiFrisco is a Director and senior analyst covering the restaurant sector. Prior to joining Lazard Capital Markets in April of 2011, he worked at Oppenheimer as an executive director and senior analyst covering restaurants for over three years. Matt has followed the restaurant sector for the last 11 years, consistently ranking among the top restaurant analysts for earnings accuracy as measured by Starmine and stock picking by Bloomberg.

Matt is quoted often with respect to trends in the restaurant industry in various publications including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and other international publications. In addition, he is a frequent guest on CNBC.

Matt began his equity research career in 1997 at Lehman Brothers and later as a senior associate at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. As a senior associate, he was a member on two Institutional Investor All-America teams, beverages and hard line retail.

Joel Fishbein Jr.

Joel P. Fishbein, Jr., is a Managing Director and senior analyst covering application and infrastructure software. His investment thesis and methodology are fundamentally driven and research-intensive, including consistent contact with management, competition, and suppliers. Joel builds his views based on, among other things, market position, valuation, financial strength, management experience, growth rate, and historical record. Joel has been recognized by The Wall Street Journal as “Best on the Street”, StarMine as a five-star-rated analyst, and Thomson FirstCall as a top-rated software analyst.

Prior to joining Lazard Capital Markets in September 2006, Joel worked on the sell-side at Janney Montgomery Scott and on the buy-side at Gardner Lewis Asset Management and at the State of New Jersey Department of the Treasury pension fund. During his tenure at Gardner Lewis, he primarily focused on telecommunications services and equipment, cable, networking, data storage, enterprise equipment, and Internet security and infrastructure.

Joel brings experience to the financial services industry from his work in government relations lobbying for The Carmen Group, Inc. in Washington, DC. He represented several clients on regulatory matters relating to telecommunications, transportation, and technology issues. With a background in law, he has litigated for the firm of Marshall, Dennehey, Warner, Coleman & Goggin and worked on regulatory and employment issues.

Joel has a JD from Widener University School of Law and a BA in Political Science with a minor in Business Administration from Rowan University.

James Fuller

Jake Fuller is a Director and senior analyst covering the hospitality industry and eTravel. Before joining Lazard Capital Markets in January 2011, Jake established Travel Wise Research, an independent research boutique. His research was distributed through Soleil Securities and PhoCus Wright. Prior to Travel Wise, he worked at Thomas Weisel for nine years covering gaming, lodging and eTravel companies.

Thomas Gallucci

Thomas Gallucci is a Managing Director and senior research analyst covering healthcare services. Prior to joining Lazard Capital Markets in May 2009, he worked at Merrill Lynch for 10 years primarily focused on the healthcare distribution/pharmacy benefit management subsectors, the healthcare facilities space and the retail drug business. 

In 2008, Tom had the honor of being named to the Institutional Investor All-America team in two separate categories - healthcare distribution/technology and healthcare facilities. Similarly, Tom was named to the Institutional Investor All-America team every year from 2004-2008 in the healthcare distribution/technology category, and in 2003 he was designated by Institutional Investor as one of the top “Up and Coming” analysts on the Street. He has also consistently ranked in the top tier of the Greenwich Associates survey in the healthcare distribution category. As an indicator of his stock-picking abilities, Tom placed 4th in the Wall Street Journal's "Best on the Street" survey in 2008 and was named one of eight Institutional Investor “Home Run Hitters” in 2001.

Steven Halper

Steve Halper is a Managing Director and senior analyst covering healthcare information technology and managed care. Prior to joining Lazard Capital Markets, Steve was a Managing Director at Stifel Nicolaus, which he joined with the acquisition of Thomas Weisel Partners in 2010. In addition to his analyst role at TWP, Steve also served as the Associate Research Director from 2008 to 2010. Steve began his sell-side research career at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette where he covered the healthcare information technology, healthcare services and medical device sectors from 1994 to 2000.  Before DLJ, Steve was a stock analyst at Value Line.

Ryan Hutchinson

Ryan Hutchinson is a Director and senior analyst covering networking and data infrastructure companies. Prior to joining Lazard Capital Markets in December 2007, he was at WR Hambrecht + Co, where he was a founding member of the firm. During his nine-year tenure at WR Hambrecht + Co, he held various positions within the investment banking and equity research departments. Most recently, he was a senior research analyst heading the firm's networking and communication research practice.

Ian Ing

Ian Ing is a Vice President and senior analyst covering communication ICs and components. Ian began his financial analyst career after spending more than a decade working directly in the semiconductor and wireless industries in engineering management and marketing roles, most recently working with field sales and customers on in-bound marketing for Lattice Semiconductor. Sean Lavin

Sean Lavin M.D. is a Managing Director and senior analyst covering the medical technology space. Prior to joining Lazard Capital Markets in March 2008, Sean was a sell-side analyst at Oppenheimer and Co. covering medical devices and diagnostics. Sean focuses on minimally invasive devices and those, which he believes can change the standard of care.

 

Prior to joining Oppenheimer, he worked as a surgical resident at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, FL. While there, Sean participated in general, plastic, trauma, vascular, cardiothoracic, and urologic surgery cases and cared for patients in the ICU, emergency room, and burn unit.

 

Sean has an MD from the Ohio State University College of Medicine, and a BS in chemistry with a minor in biology and a concentration in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Ryan Martins

Ryan Martins is a Senior Vice President and senior analyst covering biotechnology. Ryan began his career on the sell side at Lehman Brothers after spending more than five years working in the biopharmaceutical industry in various operational roles, initially with Sanofi-Aventis in Mumbai, India, then Chiron Corporation/Novartis in California. Ryan joined Lazard Capital Markets after five years on the biotechnology team at Barclays Capital and its predecessor firm Lehman Brothers.

Sanjay Shrestha

Sanjay Shrestha is a Managing Director and senior analyst covering alternative energy. Prior to joining Lazard Capital Markets in February 2007, Sanjay was a managing director and senior research analyst at First Albany Capital, where he built the firm’s alternative energy and industrial research practice. During his seven-year tenure at First Albany, he hosted specialized and focused industry conferences, including solar conferences and electric transmission and distribution conferences.

Prior to joining First Albany in 2000, Sanjay was an analyst at C.L King and Associates, where he covered the broad industrial sector. Prior to that, he gained experience as a consultant in retail banking and as a software entrepreneur.

Sanjay has been recognized by Forbes/Starmine as the #1 Earnings Estimator for 2006 and the #1 Stock Picker for 2007. William Tanner

Bill Tanner is a Managing Director and senior analyst covering the biopharma.  Prior to joining Lazard Capital Markets in 2009, he worked at Leerink Swann LLC, a healthcare investment bank, for almost seven years, where he was a Managing Director and head of the biotechnology equity research team. Leerink Swann consistently ranked highly by Institutional Investor as Best of the Boutiques in biotechnology and the team ranked #6 in the 2008 Greenwich Associates survey of healthcare. Prior to Leerink Swann, he was a Managing Direct and biotechnology analyst at SG Cowen and before that, a biotechnology analyst at the former Vector Securities International. For the last 15 years, he has worked at investment banks focused predominantly or exclusively on healthcare.

Bill received a PhD from Texas A&M University in Physiology and was a postdoctoral fellow at Monsanto in the Molecular Genetics and Mammalian Biology Group. Prior to starting his Wall Street career, he was a research associate in the Department of Pathology and Immunology in the Division of Immunology at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He is the recipient of a National Research Service Award from the NIH. He also received an MBA from the Olin School of Business at Washington University.
